Digital Marketing Strategy Checklist
For many businesses, creating a digital marketing strategy can be a daunting task, especially if you’re a brick-and-mortar business that does not sell anything online. However, people are constantly searching for businesses of all niches online, and they are also on social media where they see pages and advertisements for businesses as well. In fact, an average 5.9 million searches were done per day on Google alone in 2013. So, a digital marketing strategy is vital to every business out there, and if your business doesn’t show up when users search for your services or products, you can find yourself in serious trouble when it comes to attracting customers.
Checklist for a Sound Digital Marketing Strategy
Create a quality, optimized website. Creating a website is the first step to creating an online presence, but it takes more than an attractive design to have a quality website. The site must also be optimized with keywords, title tags, Meta descriptions, and more. Read our site page for more information.
Implement a Search Engine Optimization (SEO) strategy. Creating valuable content around relevant keywords and adding it regularly to your site is vital to keeping your site relevant and found by searchers (who use keywords to find the content, products, and services you have). The more quality content you have surrounding relevant keywords, the more likely you are to pop up in search engines for those searched words. Read our SEO page for more information on how to attract organic traffic, or read our search engine marketing page for more on paid traffic.
Create your Google Local business page. Claiming your business or creating it on Google Local is extremely important to your site’s visibility on search engines. Complete and optimize your listing for maximum results.
Promote your business on relevant social media sites. Instagram probably isn’t for your accounting firm, and LinkedIn probably isn’t for your local toy store (though not necessarily). Focus your time and effort on promoting your business on the platforms where you think your customers are searching for you. Make sure to post engaging, interesting information to keep your customers interested. You could even run advertisements on social media to attract customers outside of your fan base and lead them to your social media page or website.
Use email marketing to send your customers important info or attractive offers. Email marketing is one of the most affordable marketing solutions available, and it’s one of the easiest strategies to execute. One of the keys to effective email marketing is to stick to a consistent send frequency. If you want to send a weekly or biweekly email, then stick to that as best as you can. Don’t send out emails four days in a row and then not send another one for two months. Make sure your emails have a consistent style and consistent delivery stability.
Get creative! Look into video marketing or creating an app to you take your marketing to a whole new level.
